Djerbahood
Im Jahr 2014 bot Mehdi Ben Cheikh, Gründer der Galerie, den Bewohnern von Erriadh im Herzen der Insel Djerba ein außergewöhnliches Erlebnis: Er verwandelte ihr Dorf in ein Straßenkunstmuseum unter freiem Himmel. Ein Gesamtkunstwerk, das in seiner Umgebung verankert ist, um diese zu bereichern.
Nach dem Erfolg im Jahr 2014 kehrt Djerbahood im Jahr 2022 zurück.
Im Rahmen des von der Europäischen Union finanzierten Tounes Wijhetouna-Programms mit Unterstützung des tunesischen Ministeriums für Tourismus und Handwerk und des Ministeriums für kulturelle Angelegenheiten hat Djerbahood neue Ambitionen. Künstlerische Experimente werden zu einem dauerhaften Projekt und einem Mittel zur Bewahrung des tausendjährigen Erbes der Insel. Im Jahr 2022 werden rund fünfzig Künstler nach Djerba gereist sein, um an dieser neuen Ausgabe von Djerbahood teilzunehmen. Nach Swoon, Inti, Tinho, ElSeed, Addfuel, Ardif, David de la Mano und AlexisDiaz – unter anderem – schloss sich Shepard Fairey im April 2022 dem Abenteuer mit drei monumentalen Werken an, die freiwillig übertragen wurden, bevor sie von Hand im Siebdruckverfahren hergestellt wurden.

Das Dorf
Seit 2014 ist das Dorf Erriadh die Heimat von Djerbahood, einem wahren Freilichtmuseum, einem authentischen Ort, an dem Künstler aus aller Welt leben. Ein einzigartiges künstlerisches und menschliches Projekt am Anfang der Restaurierung des architektonischen Erbes von Erriadh, einer Quelle engagierten und nachhaltigen Tourismus.
Künstlerische Experimente werden zu einem dauerhaften Projekt und einem Mittel zur Bewahrung des tausendjährigen Erbes der Insel. Die Fassaden der Houchs – der in Djerba am häufigsten vorkommenden Terrassenhäuser –, die zur Unterbringung der Werke ausgewählt wurden, wurden unter Berücksichtigung des lokalen Know-hows und der Materialien restauriert. Diagnosen, Behandlungen, Reinigung und Restaurierung von Oberflächen werden vor der Ankunft der Künstler durchgeführt. Das architektonische Erbe von Erriadh, geprägt von einem mehr als 2000-jährigen jüdischen und muslimischen Kulturerbe, erwacht wieder zum Leben.

vor einer WocheDjerbahood was an urban art event during which artists from around the world took over the Tunisian village of Erriadh on Djerba. Today it is an impressive and beautiful open-air graffiti museum. The weather was perfect and it was great fun just strolling through all the alleyways, discovering the various works of art and taking photos. Many people visited Djerbahood. However, as there was so much to see and so many opportunities to walk, there were never too many people on one spot. There are also a lot of small shops, restaurants, cafes which were all beautifully decorated and had its own charm. We totally loved and enjoyed Djerbahood and would always come back.

vor 5 MonatenAfter all the hype, the place was somewhat of a letdown. It was dusty, not all that clean, and most murals chipped and peeling. The people selling souvenirs were friendly and not as pushy as in most other places. It's worth a visit, but don't expect much and don't go with an organized tour because you'll overspend. Take a taxi - they are cheap, and they will cost a reasonable amount from any point on the island.

vor 5 MonatenDjerbahoud neighborhood - the open-air museum that revives the impoverished Tunisian village of Eriad. As we walked, it was as if we were immersed in a Travel Chanel movie. Blossoming trees and bushes can be seen everywhere. Even without graffiti, you will definitely like it here. There are dozens of attractive urban details around - the windows of the houses, their doors, the fences. There are also many animals. The paintings are so beautiful!
