A magnificent museum offering a rich panorama of the art of Tunisia and the Arab-Islamic world. A unique collection of more than 1000 pieces, recounting 13 centuries of Art and History, spread over 15 rooms with a sober and airy museography. A pure moment of cultural pleasure!

The impressive unpublished collection of more than 1000 pieces, the richest of its kind in the country, demonstrates the influence exerted by Islamic art from the Mediterranean basin to the borders of Asia. Masterpieces of calligraphy and miniature, manifestations of the sacred, precious ornaments and ancient doors, ceramics and pottery have been collected with passion from around the world. Two large sections: one devoted to all Arab-Islamic cultures and the other to the Arts of Tunisia. Through the fifteen soberly furnished rooms or galleries, one can admire, among other things, the glossy tiles of Kachan, the parchment of the Koran of Kairouan, the fragments of the hangings of the Kaaba and the silver and silk standards of the mystical brotherhoods, the enamelled pottery of Tunisia and the superb collection of Tunisian jewelry and costumes.

You have to buy combined ticket for all attractions, but we loved this museum. Small and easy to get through but with many beautiful and interesting pieces. Was a perfect glimpse into the history of Djerba and this area of Tunisia.
