Djerbahood
Nel 2014, Mehdi Ben Cheikh, fondatore della galleria, ha offerto agli abitanti di Erriadh, situata nel cuore dell'isola di Djerba, un'esperienza straordinaria: trasformare il loro villaggio in un museo di street art a cielo aperto. Un'opera d'arte totale e collettiva ancorata al suo ambiente per valorizzarlo.
Dopo il successo riscontrato nel 2014, Djerbahood ritorna nel 2022.
Nell'ambito del programma Tounes Wijhetouna finanziato dall'Unione Europea, con il sostegno del Ministero tunisino del Turismo e dell'Artigianato e del Ministero degli Affari Culturali, Djerbahood ha nuove ambizioni. La sperimentazione artistica diventa un progetto duraturo e un vettore per preservare il patrimonio millenario dell'isola. Nel 2022, una cinquantina di artisti si saranno recati a Djerba per partecipare a questa nuova edizione di Djerbahood. Dopo Swoon, Inti, Tinho, ElSeed, Addfuel, Ardif, David de la Mano e AlexisDiaz – tra gli altri – Shepard Fairey si è unito all'avventura nell'aprile 2022 con tre opere monumentali trasferite volontariamente prima di essere serigrafate a mano.

Un'opera d'arte completa e collettiva che utilizza il suo ambiente per sublimare le opere. Dopo il successo, Djerbahood torna nel 2022 con nuovi obiettivi nell'ambito del programma Tounes Wijhetouna. Il progetto è finanziato dall'Unione Europea con il sostegno del Ministero tunisino del Turismo e dell'Artigianato e del Ministero degli Affari Culturali. Questa iniziativa artistica è diventata un progetto permanente e un mezzo per preservare il patrimonio millenario dell'isola.
Il villaggio
Dal 2014 il villaggio di Erriadh ospita Djerbahood, un vero e proprio museo a cielo aperto, un autentico luogo occupato da artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo. Un progetto artistico e umano unico all'origine del restauro del patrimonio architettonico di Erriadh, fonte di turismo impegnato e sostenibile.
La sperimentazione artistica diventa un progetto duraturo e un vettore per preservare il patrimonio millenario dell'isola. Le facciate degli houchs – le case a patio, le più comuni a Djerba – scelte per ospitare le opere sono restaurate nel rispetto del know-how e dei materiali locali. Diagnosi, trattamenti, pulizia e restauro delle superfici vengono effettuati prima dell'arrivo degli artisti. Il patrimonio architettonico di Erriadh, plasmato da un patrimonio culturale ebraico e musulmano di oltre 2000 anni, sta tornando in vita.

un mese faDjerbahood was an urban art event during which artists from around the world took over the Tunisian village of Erriadh on Djerba. Today it is an impressive and beautiful open-air graffiti museum. The weather was perfect and it was great fun just strolling through all the alleyways, discovering the various works of art and taking photos. Many people visited Djerbahood. However, as there was so much to see and so many opportunities to walk, there were never too many people on one spot. There are also a lot of small shops, restaurants, cafes which were all beautifully decorated and had its own charm. We totally loved and enjoyed Djerbahood and would always come back.
